Cyber Punk Week

Today in class we discussed Cyber punk, I have some personal Cyberpunk films I love like THX 1138, and Blade Runner, so it was really interesting to talk about the movie adaptation of the original manga, GHOST IN THE SHELL.
Yeas its Crazy, its come so far even as to be adapted into a hollywood Cyber punk scifi film. Not many people are huge fans of the movie but some credit must be put for the cinematography managing to capture shots that resembled the manga and 2D Anime.
It's worth taking a look. Many people were upset that there wasn't cultural representation though because it should have stared an Asian actor, and instead it was Scarlet Johansson.

I personally did not dislike the movie, it's not the best in the world, but it's pretty entertaining and Cyber punk is just cool, so why not. The manga was cooler though. I like the visuals way more. Its got much thicker complicated machinery overlaying ages of detail and I think that both films could have been grittier, the Animated version did a better job than the live action at that. It was interesting additionally the concept of a "Soul" trapped or evolving from technology, makes you get into a deeper level of thought, one that you might not want to spend too much time in seeing that we are all in quarantine at this moment.
